Gurukul Ayurveda College is now known as Gurukul Campus of ‘Uttarakhand Ayurved University’, Uttarakhand.
Gurukul was first established on 16th may 1900 at Gujrawala in Punjab by venerable Swami Shradhanand ji Maharaj. But his idea was to establish Gurukul on the bank of holy river Ganga. For this noble cause, Sh. Amar Singh, a person of great integrity donated his 1600 sq. yards of land for the establishment of Gurukul. On 4th may 1902, Gurukul was shifted to Kangri village near Haridwar and thus it is known as Gurukul Kangri. Unfortunately, Gurukul Kangri University had to face a huge destruction because of heavy flood in river Ganga on september 1924 because of this, Gurukul was shifted to its present place at Haridwar in 1930
Initially the title of Vidyalankara was conferred in Gurukul Kangri. Under this title there was a system of reading and teaching of Ayurveda.
